JAILED: Chuba Unchenna Ihezue and the drugs.
JAILED: Chuba Unchenna Ihezue and the drugs.

AN ILLEGAL immigrant living in Dagenham has been jailed for more than eight years for smuggling drugs into the UK.
Chuba Unchenna Ihezue, 33, of Verney Road, was found guilty of the importation of a class B drug and possession with intent to supply drugs and immigration offences at Snaresbrook Crown Court on last Thursday and sentenced to eight-and-a-half years.
The charges came after a ‘controlled delivery’ operation by Barking and Dagenham Police and the UK Border Agency.
A package sent from Nigeria was intercepted by UKBA, which deemed it suspicious. Later inspection revealed it contained six kilos of cannabis, along with hair extension products.
Officers attended the Ihezue’s house in late April and arrested him. On searching the property they found evidence of a second identity that the man was believed to be using in order to import drugs. Also at the address were shopping bags filled with white powder that was later identified as an agent used to mix with illegal drugs.
Ihezue, who had remained in the UK illegally, will be deported on the completion of his sentence.
Detective Sergeant Louise Giles said: “This is a cautionary tale for anyone feels that trading in substances used for cutting illegal drugs is a less risky practice that dealing the drugs themselves.
“We will continue to challenge the use and sale of illegal substances and use all resources available to us in order to place offenders before the courts
