Images have been released of two youths wanted by police after an elderly man was attacked and pushed to the floor.
Detectives believe the two suspects, caught on CCTV, may have followed the 77-year-old victim from Manchester to Salford before robbing him.
The pensioner was waiting outside the Tesco store at the Ellesmere shopping centre in Walkden when two young men approached him.
After asking him if he waiting for a taxi, they pushed him to the floor, assaulted him and stole items from his pockets, including a mobile phone.
The victim, who has not been identified, suffered a cut to his hand and extreme shock.
Police believe the two offenders earlier planned their attack after seeing the victim at a bookmakers’ in Piccadilly, Manchester and following him out.
They are then believed to have boarded the same bus as him, the number 37 to Salford, where they were caught on CCTV.
Both offenders were young black men, one 5ft 5ins tall of slim build and wearing light jeans.
The other was 6ft tall and wore a dark jacket and blue jeans.
Detective Constable Horace Bell said: "This was a planned attack on a vulnerable elderly man, and it has badly affected him.
"Since the incident we have carried out a number of inquiries, including circulating these images on a police database, and we have established what we understand to be the full circumstances behind this offence.
"It appears as though he was followed on a bus from Manchester, which makes it all the more imperative to catch those responsible.
"I would urge anyone who recognises the young men pictured to call us."
