Judge Jeffrey Rucker
Judge Jeffrey Rucker – Truro Crown Court
Here is Judge Jeffrey Rucker. He is a judge who seems to think that the abuse of children is not a serious enough crime to warrant a custodial sentence. He fails to understand the long lasting impact these evil offences have on the young and vulnerable child survivors. The sentences are quite simply a insult to the victims involved.
Judge Jeffrey Rucker you are hereby NAMED AND SHAMED !
Below are some examples and quotes of some of his more questionable judgements (click names for full profile)
October 2007 – Child rapist Simon Foster, 26, had his sentence from Judge Rucker doubled after the Court of Appeal ruled it was too short.
Judge Rucker had origionaly given Foster, a chef from South Devon, just two years for raping his 12-year-old victim whom he had met over the Internet – the Court of Appeal increased the term to four years. Foster was jailed at Exeter Crown Court in June 2007 by Judge Rucker, after he admitted a series of sexual offences against the child, including two counts of rape. Foster broke his sex offenders register order in 2010
December 2003 - Judge Rucker spared Joseph Denley, 79, of Penzance, jail in December 2003 because of his fragile health. Denley had been convicted of 41 charges of indecent assault involving 23 pupils at Marazion Primary School.
Instead of life behind bars, Judge Rucker gave the paedophile a two-year prison sentence suspended for two years and ordered him to sign the sex offenders’register for 10 years with £2,500 towards costs.
September 2006 - A former Redruth councillor has been jailed for indecently assaulting a young girl. Andrew Trathen, 52, of Rose Row in Redruth, denied intentionally sexually touching the girl, but was guilty. Judge Jeffrey Rucker sentenced him to just18 months in prison. The victim went onto have difficulties in her relationship with her parents and life at school, and resorted to self harm.
Febuary 2007 - Bobby Bramley, formerly the porter at the Esplanade Hotel, used a hotel cardkey to enter the woman’s locked bedroom in August 2006. The victim, who can not be identified, was in her 70s and a summer visitor to the resort.
The court was told she was a “spirited, cheerful lady” who was left feeling “upset and nauseous”. Telling the old lady he had come to give her a “midnight kiss”, Bramley then got into her bed and touched her. After she rejected his sexual advances, Bramley got out of the bed naked and left. Handing down a sentence of a two year supervised community order Judge Jeffrey Rucker told him: “You’re an intelligent young man”
November 1996 - Judge apologises to mugger as he cuts sentence for attack – Judge Jeffrey Rucker apologised for jailing a mugger for too long for robbing/assaulting a 15-year-old girl of a pounds 12,000 Rolex watch. He told David Hatto, who has several previous convictions, that he was reducing to two-and-a-half years the four-year sentence. Hatto had a 11-year criminal record.
In July 1999, Judge Jeffrey Rucker imposed a three-year probation order on Quentin Leatham, 37, after he admitted 11 charges of possessing and supplying drugs, including heroin and cocaine, from his flat in Fulham, west London. Normally, Leatham would have been jailed for several years, but Judge Rucker put him on probation on condition that he attended a rehabilitation unit.
Judge Rucker, who covered courts including Devon and Cornwall, has now retired
