  • He was jailed for 19 years last month following an 11-week trial
  • Ahmed - known to his victims by the nickname 'Daddy' - could not be named as he was awaiting trial on separate child rape charges

Leader: Shabir Ahmed will be sentenced in August after being found guilty of 30 counts of child rape. He is already serving 19 years for his part in the Rochdale grooming gang.

The leader of a child exploitation ring who raped vulnerable teenage girls - who he told to call him 'Daddy'.
Shabir Ahmed, 59, was jailed last month but can only now be identified, after he was convicted of 30 more horrific rapes in a separate trial.
He would befriend his teenage victims and ply them with alcohol before carrying out his attacks.
The divorced father-of-four, known as 'Daddy', was the ringleader of a group of men who preyed on dozens of young girls in Rochdale, Greater Manchester, and then passed them around for sex.
If their victims did not submit they were plied with cheap vodka and raped.
Ahmed was one of nine Pakistani men jailed at Liverpool Crown Court for a total of 77 years last month for the horrific sex attacks.
The takeaway worker and former taxi driver was given a 19-year sentence for conspiracy, two rapes, aiding and abetting rape, sexual assault and sex trafficking.
But he could not be named because he was awaiting trial on separate child rape charges.
Yesterday he was convicted of 30 counts of rape by a jury at Manchester Crown Court and Judge Mushtaq Khokhar lifted reporting restrictions on naming him.
One of Ahmed's victims in the original grooming case said his public naming-and-shaming had finally brought her some closure.
The girl - who was herself raped by Ahmed after he plied her with vodka above the Tasty Bites takeaway in Heywood - said: 'I'm just glad people can know who he is and what he's done. He's just such an evil man. I know what he's done to me - it's obvious now from this second trial that he's been doing this for years and ruined a lot of lives.
'If anybody deserves to spend the rest of their lives in prison, it's him. I'm just relieved it's all over - it's some kind of justice.'
Her father, who watched from the public gallery as Ahmed was convicted in the latest case, said: 'He is horrible, evil - the vilest, most perverted individual.
'This will never go away for my daughter and all the other victims. He has condemned them to a lifetime of torture thinking about what he's done.'
Yesterday the court in the new case heard he repeatedly raped and sexually abused a young Asian girl for more than a decade, treating her as a 'possession' to use for his own sexual gratification.
Rachel Smith, prosecuting, said: 'She tried to make him stop, but it was to no avail. The defendant was a violent and controlling man.'

She said the victim, who cannot be named, was forced to submit to his vile sexual advances and the abuse happened on an almost weekly basis.
The girl, now an adult, says he destroyed her life and left her never wanting to get married or have sex.

The jury was told that the victim only plucked up the courage to report the rapes to police when an investigation was launched into the sex grooming scandal in Rochdale.
Ahmed, wearing a black tracksuit top, smirked as the jury returned the unanimous verdicts.
During the trial he had launched a series of tirades, including one in which he tried to blame Western society for allowing young girls to 'parade on the streets' where they could be preyed on by men like himself.
Ahmed, of Oldham, will be sentenced on August 2.
The abuse began at two takeaways in the Heywood area of Rochdale, including the Balti House (pictured), which is under new ownership
